Childhood Hunger

16.2 million Children in the United States battle with hunger. Many people believe childhood hunger only exists in impoverished countries, but it actually affects people in your everyday lives. More than 20 million kids get free or reduced lunches. Many families struggle to put food on their tables. These kids look normal to us, but inside they are skirmishing with hunger. The kid sitting next to you may not have eaten in days.  Children who go without regular meals tend to get sick more often and recover slower. They are more likely to get hospitalized. Without nutritious food a child’s ability to learn is much slower, they also have trouble concentrating and succeeding in school. This leads to emotional and behavioral obstacles. You may not think you can make a difference with childhood hunger, but you are wrong. The littlest donation helps. Volunteer at your local food shelter. Donate to your local food drive or even start a food drive at your school. Show these kids struggling that they are not alone and that you care.  Get your friends and family to help. Make others aware of this issue that is close to home. You can make a difference and transform the lives of these children. Take action now.
