Women, children, and men who have been raped are more likely to suffer from depression, post traumatic stress disorder, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, and have suicidal thoughts. Women should be more aware of what is going on and how to judge if a man is safe or not. But we should be teaching men that rape is a very serious issue and is wrong. Rape is to show power and control, it is not about sex. Men and women should be taught from day one how rape can affect a person no matter the age. People always say boys will be boys. It's not that boys will be boys it's that men have been taught over the years that they have more power over women. It has been like that for a while now. I think it's time to make a difference. Boys will not just be "boys" anymore. Ages twelve to thirty four are at the highest risk of being raped. Dru Sjodin was  a victim of rape and she was killed. She lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was 22 years old when she was raped and killed. Her rapist and killer was Alfonso Rodriguez, Jr. He was arrested and put in jail prior to the incident for 23 years. He was a level three Minnesota registered sex offender. George Bush signed the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act. Which included a law to honor the memory of Dru. This (and many other stories) have inspired lots of men and women to help stop sexual assault and rape.
