It’s finally here. Friday; the biggest game of the season, both teams undefeated about to go at it on the gridiron. It’s the talk of the town, no the talk of the valley! The excitement is just to much to handle. I hate all the questions people ask about the game. I don’t like to think about football on game day, or game week for that matter. There are two reasons why. One, I won’t be able to focus on ANYTHING else. Two, I don’t want to get any doubt in my mind. When you are the starting quarterback, even if you aren't the star of the team, all eyes are on you. You are the one that people think knows everything. I must learn to choke down any sign of nervousness, even though I am probably the most nervous. I feel like everything relies on how I play. In a way it does, but not to the extent that I feel it does. I think of the thousands of dollars my parents have poured into camps and transferring to a private school all to play football. I also think about my coaches who pour all of their spare time into the team. This is the weight I feel on my shoulders.

There is no stopping the excitement from racing through my body. Coach runs through all of the plays with me. I already know them all, he just wants to make sure we are on the same page. Everybody is getting super excited. I have to keep my composure. I am a quarterback, I don’t get to show emotions. Whether winning or losing, I have to play the same no matter what. Any emotion will affect my decision making. It’s not easy, but I get a pretty good grip on things. We are all suited up and ready to get going. The mood is electric. I am shaking from excitement. Warm-ups seem like they take forever. Then the coin toss. But then its time. “Set-Hike!” Bam! … Interception… Great way to start the game…

This was my experience before the my schools league championship football game last year. It was a very important game with a sad ending.
