Baseball Dream
Since I was 9, I loved to play baseball. Well, at first I didn’t love it. I didn’t know how to play, and it was very hard. I was scared to go up to bat. Let’s start at the beginning. I am left handed, so naturally the coach wanted to see if I could pitch. I really liked my coach, but I was still scared. With the help of a good coach, it did not take long for me to really start to like the game of baseball. This is where my baseball dreams began.
For my first season of baseball the little league A’s, I had to learn what each person and position was supposed to do in the game. Some of the other kids had already played ball before and they knew where to go. I had some friends on the team so that made it a little easier to have fun. My coach was great, and he also was a left handed pitcher. He worked with me so I could have more confidence with baseball.
My next season was with the little league Jackets and Yankees. I had lots of fun because I knew most of the boys and I knew some baseball. I was getting better all the time. I had more fun and getting more confidence. I was becoming a really good first baseman.
The following year I was on two teams also, the Hitz and Legends. I was having so much fun. My parents talked to my coach and he said I needed to practice pitching and needed to be on the mound, because if I wanted to play in high school and after, my best chance would be as pitcher. Playing all year round was very fun, but it also made me tired. Every single weekend I had a baseball game or tournaments. I did really well this year and was able to hit and pitch with good stats. I made my first homerun this year. I also had the help of a personal pitching coach and batting coach this year. It really made a difference in my progress.
This last year I was on two teams again, Blackouts and Torros. I traveled 2 hours, twice a week to practice for the Blackouts team. It was a really good time because I was able to see two of my friends who had moved from my hometown. With this team I could see where I would be at a high school level, because we played at a 15U level with and against high school kids. I was able to hold my own. With the Torros team I was playing with all high school boys ages up to 17 years. I was a pitcher and center fielder. Playing up in age helped me become a better player. This was also the first time I traveled all over the state.
This year is a year of baseball dreams. I am now going to try out for my hometown high school baseball team. I can be on one of three teams. I am so hopeful that all my work in baseball will help me get on the team. I know I have practiced very hard and I love playing ball. My baseball dreams go past high school and hopefully will go at least into college. My baseball dreams are big. You never know, you might see this left-handed pitcher in the Big League.
