The Problem With Writing
Words are confusing and writing is hard. As a writer, you try to write interesting stories that people want to read. You want to create an amazing, groundbreaking story, but it’s never going to be as easy as you think it will be. When you imagine yourself writing, you imagine all of these stories magically coming to you, but it never works that way. When the stories don’t come to you or you just don’t know what you should write about, writing can become very difficult. For example, as I write this now, I have no idea where I will go. How will I finish this? How long will it be? I don’t know. The problem is that written words have power. When you speak your words just disappear either into another’s mind or perhaps just thin air. When you write, the words don’t go away. They are trapped within the paper they are written on with nowhere to go. I have a hard time writing because of this. The fear of my words being trapped on paper means that someone else can read it. Someone can misinterpret it, make improvements, pass judgement. They way we write defines us. It can tell so much about the person that wrote it, but that’s the other problem. What happens if the reader doesn't like the way you wrote? What would happen if they decided that your work is bad, so, obviously, you must be incompetent? What if they judge you for being who you are? Should you care? No. Just keep writing. You’ll always go through times when you feel you just can’t write anymore, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't write anymore.
