When we wake up on a bright, luminous Saturday morning, we usually hope or take it for granted in most occasions to experience a good day or probably better than the working days of school. But sometimes that might not be the consequence and this bright sunshine might be memorable for one of the worst reminiscences of our lives that can chill our bones to extremity.

It was the weekend of winter break last year in Oklahoma. My family and I, along with my uncle’s family went to the Central Park in Oklahoma for a revitalizing family picnic. We all were having so much fun until a certain moment. We consumed our favorite foods, we played soccer, we all sang in a chorus and danced too. Just as the sun was about to set and mark the beginning for evening, we started packing and prepared to leave for our homes after such a tiresome day. On our way home we were taking the expressway to take a shortcut and save time a bit; so that we get enough time at home to watch one of our favorite T.V. shows. While my dad was driving at something around a pace of 140 km/hr, a van that must have been doing about 180 km/hr, overtook us. “Is he gone insane or what?” my dad yelled out and commented how stupid the van driver was to drive at such speeds in the expressway. And we all kept on talking about dreadful accidents that takes place in freeways gazing at that van.

After a while, something quite unexpected happened. The van was a hundred meters ahead of us when it suddenly started spinning round and round. It was like a scene from an action movie. We could see broken pieces of glasses and metals flying out of the car. Then we saw someone being flung out of the car. The van spun for a total of six seconds before it came to a stop by the roadside, smoke coming out of the mangled tires. There were four cars in front of us who slowed down to see if they could render some help to the occupants of the van. We stopped our car as well and my dad and I came out of the car to see if we could assist to aid the passengers who were not at all in good condition. The five passengers were helped out of the car and to be very honest I could not keep my eyes open after looking at their bodies which were smeared with blood. The person who flung out of the car turned out to be the driver and he was worst off his cuts and bruises all over his body and the worst part of the accident was that a little six year old girl who was one of passengers of the van was announced spot dead. I couldn’t hold my tears and suddenly ran away from that deadly spot.

As the ambulance and the cops were on the way, we decided to go home. We all were in a state of shock and there were pin drops of silence in our car. I couldn’t even imagine that; that day was so enigmatic and things that were way out of my mind's eye had happened. And I never even thought, even in my dreams that I am going to be a witness of such a ghastly accident and the memory of this accident remained etched in my brains forever long to that day of the family picnic in Oklahoma.
