Competition Gone Wrong
It was July 19th a nice sunny day and it was the perfect day to play baseball. I had a game that day for the light house league. I was on the Phillies and we was going up against the Pirates. My cousin played for them. We always were competitive so i really wanted to win.
When the game started it was very intense. We both had our eyes on each other with the idea of a win. The 8th inning my cousin hit a homerun, as he ran around the bases he looked at me and smiled at me. That got under my skin. When I got up to bat hit a very nice single. We were down one point with a man on 3rd and me on 1st. My first base coach told me that i need to steal 2nd base. So when i was ready i took off and ran as fast as i could. I went to slide and i felt something POP!! I screamed out in pain. My mom came onto the field to get behind her was the medics as well as my cousin.
I went to the doctors' and they did x-rays to find out what was wrong with my leg. I got my results back and i tore a ligament in my knee. I was on crutches for 6 months. I couldn’t go out with my friends a lot. When I was able to walk I was scared to play sports for a while because i thought i could get hurt again. I still walk with a limp till this day.
