I don’t talk to boys much. I really wish I could, because hello! Girls are dramatic as hell, and it wouldn’t hurt to have a few guy friends. But, of course, I try getting close with a guy and one of two things happen.
A, he ends up liking me. B, I end up liking him.
Sucks, right? Maybe it’s my terribly monstrous teenage hormones, general loneliness, or some bizarre stroke of unluck. But basically, whether choice A or B is bubbled in, it ends up badly.
If choice A is chosen, then there are a few options from there. I can either 1, take pity on him and date him just because I don’t want to lose him, but end up breaking up with him and losing him anyways. Or 2, reject him and immediately lose him, despite our vows “not to let this get in the way of our friendship.”
If choice B is chosen, it only ends one way: I never talk about it, and he never notices. I slowly torture myself into not being friends with him, mostly because my attitude is completely fake whenever in his presence.
So, yes. It would be nice to have guy friends.
My mom hung around all guys. Don’t know why I passed up the opportunity on snatching that gene from her.
