We Shall Be Free
Following the unacceptable pressures of this world we live in today, men and women losing hope for the ones at fault of robbing them. Being judged left and right for how we appear, the way we hold ourselves, how we speak on subjects that inflame us with passion, but no one understands. The glares we collect throughout the day yet we leave empty. We are done trying to get ahold of concepts peers make up for us. We declare our freedom from the chains they hold us in. We will be free.
We shall be free from those who say “be you’’ yet judge everyone who obeys this meaningless phrase.
We shall be free from how many likes on Instagram make us socially acceptable.
We shall be free from the tags in which indicate a paycheck amount.
We shall be free from those who say “ true beauty is on the inside” yet judge us before they know our true beauty.
We shall be free from the party roster
We shall be free from the street we call home; others call “ghetto”.
We shall be free from those who say “trust me, you look beautiful” yet judge us for finally feeling confident.
We shall be free from the ignorant pressure our peers hold us to.
We shall be free from trends others set for us expecting to follow.
We shall be free from those who say “that girl/boy got seconds, how fat of them.” yet fail to understand that’s their only meal for the day.
We shall be free from the rumors.
We shall be free from absurd standards individuals set for us even though they, themselves remain incognizant of the concept.
We shall be free from those who say “ you can tell me anything” yet judge the words crossing paths with their understanding.
We shall be free from the screaming glares others give us while walking down the halls.
We shall be free from the misconception on which click we as people become sworn into.
With these words we declare breakage of any bondage they have smothered us with. We break free of the hurtful words they spew our direction. We will no longer grant them the right to mock us when we turn the other cheek. We are taking a stand in our life. We will no long be associated with moronic actions which might make us part of the in crowd. Declaring our rights will only be the first step to making a change. With the first step we make, we draw near to our goal.
We are free.

It was written for my junior year english teacher and now my senior year teacher asked me to publish a piece. Either way this is a declaration to be free from socitey alone and everything that holds in it.
