What's Hot?

Many have the perception that fashion should only be female orientated, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Fashion is for all. The desire to look “good” shouldn’t be restricted by gender.

But, how is the male population attracted to the realm of style? What are some of their preferred items? How do their clothing combinations become eye appealing? In this article, we will highlight the well-known and the should be well known guy fashion ideals.

Let’s start bottom to top. Usually, males aim for comfort and resort to tennis shoes as the only shoe to provide that, but we’re not looking to go run in a nice get-up. Instead of Jordans or KD’s to bring a look together, men should go for oxfords, slip-on vans, or sperrys. They might seem plain, but you need something simple to complement hues.

In the pants department, guys should aim to get out of the conventional jean. Mixing and matching colors could grant vibrance to your outfit. Just be sure to not put on tight looking pants, they look and most likely will feel uncomfortable, and don’t be afraid to try out shorts as well!

Then of course comes the shirt debate, your top should exemplify YOU. Wear a variety of patterns, colors, and style tunics. Your shirt can be loose or tight. It just depends on your approach.

With such advice, we went on to interview one of Mac 9’s very own male students, Diego Olmos, to get insight on his staple pieces and guidance of his own. Mr. Olmos discloses, “Guy or girl style is about expressing who you are through what you wear. Try different things. Fashion isn’t a set of rules for you to follow. It’s the freeing of you from any rule whatsoever. Although if you are beginner, start in your comfort zone and ease your way out. Putting yourself out there is key … One of my favorite pieces would have to be a collared button down white shirt. It can be used in a classy or casual way.” Diego’s words convey the needed push for change in fashionistas. You evolve as a person and so should your wardrobe, and a great item idea to alternate from occasion to occasion.

Overall, fashion can go both ways. From dresses, heels, skirts to the male alternative. Style has no barriers. Guy or girl, fashion is in us all.
