Just imagine seeing your dazzling designs come to life down the runway one day. The bright white lights flashing at one of your gorgeous garments. Snap, snap, click, flash! The millions, billions, even trillions of eyes mesmerized by your designs. Amazing right? You may want to consider a career in fashion design! This fantastic field might come with some fame, but do you have what it takes? In the end the passion will definitely count.

 

Of course maybe some spotlight!


A very big benefit in this career is maybe you might become a household name in fashion design. Having your grand garment sale at high prices! Might even have a chance in stardom. Some schools here in Indiana that has a major in fashion design are Indiana University Bloomington (Bloomington, IN) and Purdue University (West Lafayette, IN).(“Fashion Design”; “Big Future - College Search - Find Colleges and Universities by Major, Location, Type, More”.)

 

Do you have what it take to be a fashion designer?


In this industry you're going to have to take some risks and have the skills! The biggest
risk in this industry is sticking with it, starting from the bottom and making your way to the top! A very important skill that is required is design skills. What is a fashion designer without the designs? Another skill is creativity. Having a creative mind would help sale your glorious garments. Also, a unique sense of style, of course every designer has one! Lastly, some math skills to measure your models or mannequins.(“Fashion Design”)

 

Passion for fashion


This job requires labor of love; speeding long hour of your time.(“Become a Fashion Designer - Careers - The College Board”) But, the passion for fashion would push you through. The educational background requirements in fashion design, are that most fashion designers have a bachelor’s degree in fashion design. According to 2014 “The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics” says fashion designer make $64,030 per year and $30.78 per hour.(“Fashion Designers : Occupational Outlook Handbook: : U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics”)
