stand up

Think back on a time where you or others stood idly by while an injustice occurred. There is probably a time for everyone when this has happened. In middle school I was bullied quite a bit, and would constantly bring it to the school’s attention though nothing was ever done about it.
When I was in middle school I got bullied. I was a quiet sort of kid who didn’t really know how to stand up for myself. It started off small, binder checks in sixth grade, in seventh grade shoves and name calling, and in Eighth grade is when it really got severe, I had just moved to Utah, so I was the new kid but was also an Atheist which wasn’t accepted by all. I would get in fights, put into lockers, knocked down, hit, etc. I remember being stuck in my locker for all of lunch until my friend came by to check if I was there. I couldn’t get it to stop.
The school I went to wasn’t one to act on these things. The only thing they cared about was sports teams and grades.  I would go to the school with names of people who did it and the school would never do anything because they didn’t want it on their record. They would say they were going to call in the person I remember most, who was so vile and rude he was hated by a lot of people after lunch. When class came he would still be there without being called out. It got to the point where I got into fist fights after school. Once the school finally called this person in he said he thought we were just messing around and the school believed him. he got no punishment. Finally, after a year of torment I moved to California and it stopped.
Sometimes it isn’t a select person who stands idly but it can also be an institution. It is the institutions job to protect all students not just the ones that make them look good
