A Life With K-Pop Music
I love K-Pop so much, it is my life, I almost cannot live without the wonderful music. The
bands,
the music, the videos, the shows… Those are things that make you fascinated. Everyday I come
back home after school, the first thing I do is just open my phone and see their news and
pictures, well, my mom hates them. It became my habit, a habit that makes me “overdose”
about.
You are probably going to be surprise that I didn’t like any stars, not even one when I was in
elementary school in China; I couldn’t understand why most of my friends are crazy about them,
the K-Pop stars or… even Justin Bieber! All stars look weird, they wear weird clothes and have
dark make up on their faces, they all look like girls in their strange hairstyles. My friends care
about them so much. They watch their music videos and shows everyday. I had no idea why are
so awesome and how they can make so many people love them, go to their concerts and enjoy
their shows?
But all things had changed in sixth grade in the winter. I didn’t think they were annoying
anymore, instead, I was watching their shows in China and then I started to have good feelings about them. No more weird guys, they’re actually awesome and their dancing and singing skills
impressed me. I finally can understand my friends like them so much. After I watched their shows hundreds times with all my crazy friends, the shows affected me, I started to like them.
When I was telling the news to my fandom-friends, they were screaming and shouting, it was
like their happiest moment ever. You can actually imagine what happened next… I love them
more and more, I learned about them through all the show, concerts, and their music videos.
My real fandom started on March 14th, I found the date in my diary, I listened to their songs
and I researched them everyday online, and now I cannot live without the music. But sadly, I
hadn’t been to any of the K-Pop concerts yet, I missed the concerts every time : The whole
company, S.M. Entertainment, had been invited to google to perform in October 2012, but I came
to the United States in the early December; when I went back to Beijing the summer, EXO, my
second-favorite boy’s band is performing in China, they performed in all the city nearby me, and
after I came back to the U.S., they had their performance in Beijing near my house, only five
minutes by car! It seems like I cannot get a chance to go to their concert ever! But when the
school year started, I asked my parents and both of them promised me that if there will be a
concert L.A. (they always have their performance in L.A. near their company’s branch in Los
Angeles ) or San Francisco, they will take me there. I hope I’m not in a “fight” with them during
that time…
After I moved to Kennedy this year, (I was in Hyde last year because the ELD Program that I
had to take in the first semester), I found out there are so many EXO-Ls (name of the fans of
EXO), in Kennedy, much more that Hyde. I had a EXO pencil pouch that I got this summer in China, one the first day, so many people saw the pencil pouch and walked to me asking, “Oh
gosh, do you actually like EXO?! I love them too! Who’s your favorite...” I met so many people on
the first day just because the pencil pouch, I was so surprised how the pencil pouch affected
me. Jiani, Jasmine, Lucy, Catherine, Deelia, Dorothy…
My favorite K-Pop boy’s band is not EXO but Super Junior, they are in the same company but
Super Junior is much more older than EXO, they debuted seven years before them. Super
Junior’s most famous time had past but they are still the center of K-Pop. They had their 7th
Album in the late August, MAMACITA. On Youtube, the views of Mamacita in only 22 hours are
already over 2.2 millions!(now it is over 14 millions!) The album got first place on music charts
all over the world, China, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Hongkong, Korea, Japan, the Phillipines
and many more. The album also got first place on the “World Album Chart” and “K-Pop Music
Video Chart”. And since most of the twelves only know EXO. (Super Junior’s generation was six
years ago...) I told them how perfect is Super Junior and Jiani started to like the youngest
member, Kyuhyun, so much, she was screaming how cute Kyuhyun is and how pretty his voice is. We are talking about them everyday for a long time. Every single day!
I can say it would be a totally different life for me without K-Pop, without the music, the
shows… I am so glad that I met them in sixth grade and I say a big thanks to all my
fandom-friends who lead me to the K-Pop world, they made me know them and how perfect they
are. I love them so much by now, they all have a special place in my heart, no one can substitute
them. I totally understand why my friends were acting like that in elementary school, it is so hard
to explain why but they just “overdose” you.

Well, I sure a lot people had the same time period as me. This piece is mostly for all stars' fan girls. It feels really when you look back and getting the memories back. The writing must seems similar to a memoir but it is especially not to myself, the story is going on and on...
