Do video games contribute to youth violence?

I say that Video Games do not and I repeat, DO NOT contribute to violence, like when you say “Video Games” Are you talking of all video games? or just the seemingly violent ones. Because I can give you so many reasons why you are so, very very wrong, and how my essay can prove you wrong as well. Sit down and read because I’m going to talk about all the pros, and a few cons of how video games are not contributing to youth violence.

(Con) First of all, have you ever seen or heard of the educational games they have made over the years, that indeed help younger kids learn faster and develop excitingly for the parents. “ABCmouse.com” is a learning website for kids over 2 to I guessed 5 because then they need Kindergarden, they play games of learning ABC’s, counting 123’s, and learning words and sentances all together, I’ve read and heard it reaches out to kids who have a hard time learning things and helps with so. Also let your children play “Leap Frog” or “Humongous Entertainment games” (which makes the best games by my point by the by) or at least handle a ds learning game? Well big dang do these video games have helped a younger audience of kids for years now and I’ve played a ton of them, and I’ve been one exceptional human at a young age, drawing anime and writing my first ever fanfiction to reading level Z books in first grade.

(Con) Okay I do have to say maybe some video games have a tendency of kids doing violent things after playing about an hour or so of them, GTA or “Grand Theft Auto” was seemingly the cause of this for years as I’ve read, but that’s because this generation of teens and kids are impressionable to things like car jacking and beating up randomized people on the streets. I mean seriously, teens these days are smoking and drinking at young ages because they mostly see a lot of other people doing it purposely famous people and parents, along with popular video game characters. But you can’t say that it’s all video games fault, video games help most people calm down after a days of hard work and abuse from being bullied in school, I’d do play Harvest Moon, and it keeps me content and happy.

(Con) Teens and kids mostly don’t know what they are doing until it’s too late, I know I’ve seen it happen due to traveling a lot because I hate it at “home”. Video games also have the tendency to have people copy off of them to make they’re own game, or cosplay as a few loveable characters, annoying characters, in love sort of characters, and hated characters that you love any way. In Comic Con or Video Game conventions you can see many people cosplay as the characters they love, like, and hate, and I would guess that some people take it a bit to far making the actual weapon of the character and I really mean this too like fully real looking and working in a way. I go every time as the characters I made up. But all I’m saying is that if you want to make sure your teens and kids are safe from the harm “able to copy” games can cause dial down their video game time and have them read, draw, or write, or watch t.v. to the least.

(Pro) But I couldn’t disagree that Video Games can or cannot contribute to violence in a teens life, but teenage years are hard and we all know that, teens in high school these days get bullied, picked on, teased, harassed, insulted, used, beaten and abused due to just being titled “Odd, freak, ugly, fat, whore, geek, useless, stupid, or at least in my case weird” mainly these things happen to me because I’m weird, or eccentric, I like the oddest things and you know what that’s just plain old me being me, and I love that. I’m one to be there for a friend even if they are far away. But Video games for me are an outlet to being calm, and staying away from bad things like drugs, alcohol, and guns, I’m innocent and sweet once people get to know me but they never have tried so I’ve hidden my self along with my emotions, but I let them out when writing and drawing.

So I would say that yeah maybe Video Games to cause some things in a youth’s life but the ones in control of themselves know better than to go off and copy what the characters are doing because it seems cool or a good idea. Copying character’s from Video games are good sometimes but only in conventions like Comic con, and there are learning games out there to that well help your child exceptionally with reading, writing, letters, and numbers just look for them, and just to be sure, let your teens and kids off the games once in a while, this whole generation of humans are slaves, to technology that is, go outside invite friends over for a game night and movie night, have family outings, because the technology will still be at home when you get back people!
