The Universe

The Universe is commonly defined as the totality of existence, including planets, stars, and galaxies, the contents of intergalactic space, and all matter and energy, according to Wikipedia. Similar terms include the cosmos, the world and nature. The observable universe is about 46 billion light years in radius. Early scientific examination of the Universe was elementary and basic leaving a lot of questions unanswered. They were however able to define theories regarding the Universe. These observations suggest that the Universe has been ruled by the same physical laws throughout most of its extent and history. The Big Bang Theory is the prevailing model that describes the early development of the Universe, which is calculated to have begun 37 billion years ago. Observations have shown that the Universe appears to be expanding at an accelerating rate with an astronomical amount of stars that we cannot even comprehend. There are many competing theories about the ultimate fate of the universe. Scientists believe it will die out like a star, but will be ever expanding making new parts. This suggests an ever expanding universe, which will most likely never end. I think that the fate of the universe is too big for us to even comprehend. We don’t know what will happen to us and what we will discover. If we ever do find out what will happen to our universe, I am sure that it will not be in our lifetime.
