Joseph Mitchell Feature Story
The person I have chosen for my feature story is my Dad’s brother whose name is Joseph. The part of this person legacy I choose was the sports he played in his younger days. When he was young people were always telling him he was not good enough and that he will never make it any where. After hearing these people it made him want to work harder. He would ask his brother and sister tell play against him. It was hard for joseph to play sport being that when he was five he broke his arm. When he broke it never fully restored back to normal. So he would always had a restriction when he was playing. Growing up his parents divorced at an early age. When you are young seeing your parent divorce he said sucks.
“When playing sports I felt like all my worries were behind me.” The sports he played were Soccer,Baseball, and a little football on the side. With all these thing going on in his life I could see why this was possible. When nothing in your life going right being able to put your mind some else is a good thing. I can vouch for this as well when thing in my life were going down hill I went outside with a friend and kicked around a soccer ball. Being that whatever sport you play you have to have your full mind into it. If you don't you don't play to your full potential. If you don't play to your full potential you could let your team down. You never want to let your team down so he always put all his effort in.
“Losing to friends and family made me get better.” When you play against someone you know you always want to win to have bragging rights. With this extra effort you put in just in practice is going to make you better. When you make a mistake trying to do something you attempt to do it over and over again to make it perfect. “Then that moment of success you get when you're able to perfect that move the feeling you get is great.” That was a quote he told me when i was interviewing him.
“Keeping good grades in academics was a struggle.” He told me that he was never the smartest kid in school. He would always study hard for test and not do good. If he did not get good grades he could not play sports. Sports gave him the extra push to work that much harder to get good grades. He would teach himself little catch phrase to remember for thing hard to remember. Finding all these little thing to help him study he was slowly bringing his grades up.
The reason I choose this person is because he inspired me to work that much harder in sports and on tests. He showed me that when you have a motivation to do something you can achieve that goal. When you are able to put your full mind into a goal it is possible to accomplish it. He inspired me that even when you are not the best nor can be the best try to you're full potential.
