Graduation Speech
Four short years ago we were awkward and nervous freshman, even though this is my first and last year here we all experienced the same feeling. Now we are not as awkward but we are still nervous to face life as upcoming adults.
Through the years we have learned much more than just Science, English, and Math. We have discovered who we are, who we want to be, and where we want to be. Through the smiles, laughs and even tears we discovered of how much we are capable of, and we are capable of achieving our goals.
As of this year, you were a football player, or the cheerleader, or the smart kid. The key word there is “were”. As of today you are no longer that person. Take the skills you have obtained from here and create a better you, expand on who you were.
As of today you are a new you. You have guided your ship through the small pond that is our school. For many of us that small pond will change to an ocean. The waves will become larger and the tides will be stronger, but you are still at the helm of your ship capable of achieving great things.
Today you are the star of your own movie, the hero of you own show. You are the leader of your own future, you decided on your happiness and success in life. You don't have to depend on anyone to bring the light in your life. The light is waiting for you, now all you must do is reach for it and you know you can. The only person you will fight is yourself and reluctantness to act upon your passions and dreams. Don’t, conquer that feeling of stubbornness and fear and reach the light you have been waiting for.
The person you are and always will be, depends on the people you have or will surround yourself with. Here at our school in a small town community we have all grown close to each other. I would like to give a special thanks to the class of 2014, they have made my short experience here unforgettable, and I appreciate you all.
Now look at the faces around you. We did it, all four years unforgettable memories you will carry with you forever. Those four years we worked hard, you may not be best friends with everyone, but we all had one common goal. To finish, and we made it. Thank you for the memories, the friendship and the great sense of community know as the Class of 2014.
