Name Piece
I’m the oldest of three girls. And the second oldest of four children. The same loving and encouraging mom and the same intense father raised us. We were taught to work hard, to do chores and to put our faith and family first. But I am Courtney. I am ambitious, hard working and my family’s caretaker.
My drive and ambitious attitude separates me. Once I set a goal, I never give up. I’ve grown up dreaming of being a nurse. It became my dream the first time I visited my grandma at the nursing home where she worked. To this day it is still my dream. Because of my desire to succeed, I am currently a Certified Nursing Assistant. This has given me a head start on my aspired career.
I strive to make a difference in peoples lives. Even if I only make them smile. People deserve happiness and laughter. And I want to bring them happiness. I’m the girl who will smile at a stranger because they are alone or look sad. When I visited my grandma at work, I would find one special person who didn’t have family or frequent visitors. I sat in his or her room and talked with them. Sometimes we even played games. I loved to buy them different items from the gift shop, especially stuffed animals. Leaving the nursing home that day, I felt better knowing I had made someone smile.
As the oldest girl, I look out for my sisters and make sure they start their day off with a smile. Before we depart to class, I make funny faces and tell them I love them. I do all I can to make them smile too.
But people choose to define me by one word. Triplet. Although my sisters and I share similarities like our birth date and family, we are individuals. Our similarities make us sisters and our differences make us best friends. Lauren is shy but edgy. Maranda is instrumental and silly. I am driven and a caretaker, aspiring dreams of my own. We are individuals.
