Beauty can exist in the wake of brutality
There are many options in this world that occur that may be beautiful or ugly. You may disagree with this because you may believe if its brutal, then it must be ugly, and therefore there is no question about it. Thats what some humans believe, but i on the other hand think otherwise. I believe beauty CAN exist in the wake of brutality. For example, its like a rose having its thorns. In this life you don't always obtain what you want, and so there is going to be brutality. There will also be beauty in it to , but you just have to see it. Its exactly like a rose, and let me show you how. A rose consists of a stem, the rose itself, and the thorns. The rose seems like its innocent, as well as the stem, where there is no harm done. On the other side though, is the thorns. The give the rose a little aggressive look to it. This makes the flower beautiful yet making it ugly at the same time.
Yes, brutality, and ugliness exists in this world. But nothing in this world is perfect is it? Brutality exists everywhere around, where it may be thorns on a rose, your personal life experience, or another person trying to save a life even if they know the punishment is death. In the book “The Book Thief”, the story is about a girl (Liesel), who embarks in a journey to learn how to read, write, keep secrets, and find the real meaning , and power of words through the help of her foster dad, Hans Hubermann. She is taken in by a foster family during WW2 because her brother died, and her mother is a communist. She , and her foster family decided to take a Jew during Nazi Germany time. They took the risk of taking, and hiding the Jew in the basement, and the after effects are brutal. For example, in the book, Liesal (the girl) ran into a group of Jews that were coming down her neighborhood path, and she yelled at max (the Jew she had hidden in her basement) screeching at him to fight. She acquired a whipping for saying such “nonsense” at the time. isn't it brutal to imagine a girl getting whipped, and having the lashes scarred on her back? I believe its brutal indeed.
Personally, I have faced a few brutalities my self. I have lived in the orphanage without parents for a couple of years. Our food was poor, and was leftovers, or the same food for weeks such as soup. Our desert only consisted of leftover fruit, or once in a while a little candy. We didn't have much cloths either, so you could imagine how life was like. The toys we had were usually old, already used, or broken up. Life was pretty ugly back then.
The Hitler speech is another example of how life can be brutal. Hitler made speech called “Indoctrinating Youth”. He used propaganda and certain speeches, such as “The Nazi Party targeted German youth, as a special audience for its propaganda messages” to try to lure humans into believing in what he believed, and it eventually worked out. It was disturbing to the point there he wanted to eject all the other races such, as the Jewish race. He believed that the only superior race was the Aryan race so he slaughtered a lot of humans due to it. He had caused a massive genocide, which was turned into a major history event. Events during Hitler's reign were as brutal as life seemed to come by, and it seemed like there couldn't be any joy or slim hope for even a second.
There comes a time when there is beauty in the wake of ugliness, and brutality. It is like a light in the dark. A dim hope in the surrounding brutal life. It is amazing what can happen within certain moments. In the book The Book Thief, the main character Liesel, seems to have lost everything from personal belongings to her family, to her Jewish friend max. She had spent months with a stranger (Max), and they have become friends through sharing stories, sharing nightmares, reading, and writing. Its incredible how much feelings she had for man she barely knew. She had built a snowman with him, read to him, and watched him complete his crossword puzzles. She had many fond memories of Max. Even though it was the worst of times to be a Jew in Nazi Germany, Max did pretty well. If I was in Max’s shoes, I would have been delighted at least to have some company. Liesel was Max’s distraction from the tragic brutalities that were happening in the outside world.
Personally, there were great moments in my life. I was young, and reckless at the time i was at the orphanage. For example, i remember we had swing back in the orphanage. It was the best “toy” i ever used back then. It was like a normal swing except it had metal rods to hold on to instead of chains that hung down. I remember doing 360’s, and the adrenaline rush was amazing. It was a real thrillers those days. I also had lots of friends. The loss of my parents was made up through a strong relationship with friends. We did a lot of activities together such as swinging, playing soccer, and sledding down a hill we made ourselves. We also had celebrated various holidays together such as Christmas, and Easter. Another example of beauty in brutality is from the speech Hitler had from “Indoctrinating Youth”. He had used propaganda to brainwash humans mind, and tried to succeed for all minds to think alike. Yes this was horrible, but in truth, isn't it amazing how he united all the humans of Germany? Thousands of Germans came together, and it's a rare sight to see such a huge mass of humans in one place so united.
In conclusion, even though it may seem like it not may be, but there is beauty in the wake of brutality. It exists everywhere around us, no matter whether its present day, or hundreds of thousands of years ago. Many humans find ways to enjoy themselves or look up to something when it seems there is no hope. Once again, a great example of beauty in the wake of brutality is like a rose with thorns. Yes the thorns are ugly and hurt you at times when you want to grab the rose, but there is beauty within it; the rose. You don't always obtain what you want in this life, but if you want it, it won't be for free. That's where beauty can exist in the wake of brutality.
