What Patriotism Means To Me
Patriotism to me is to be loyal to your country; to never forget the people that sacrificed their lives so you could have a place to live with freedom and rights. There are many things you can do to show patriotism in your everyday life.
An example of showing loyalty to your country is saying the Pledge of Allegiance every morning in school and understanding what it means. There are all kinds of different ways to show patriotism whether it’s voting or even just wearing a shirt that has the American flag on it.
To me, having a veteran in the family is astounding, just knowing that they helped in some way to fight to keep our country free so we can feel safe going to work or school everyday. Patriotism also means you would sacrifice for your countries freedom; I also believe that we should always support our veterans and current military. A way that we can do that is sending letters, care packages, or even prayers to our military; you could even donate money to veteran charities or groups like “Homes For Our Troops” that build homes for disabled or severely injured veteran.
I think that patriotism means to love your country; to help do things for your community or even just going down to vote for your state representative. A lot of people think that they have to go to war to be a good patriot for their country, not saying that you shouldn’t but there are lots of ways that people don’t even think of that show patriotism. When you vote for the president or even your governor that is showing patriotism because it shows that you love your country or state enough that you care who runs it, who makes sure that everything is going well.
To sum everything up, patriotism means a lot to mean even though i’m only 13 years old.
People don’t realize that there are so many things you can do that don’t take a lot of time out of your day. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
