It would be considered one of life’s simple pleasures if the answer to this prompt were clear and concise at this point in my life. At best, lifetime goals are hopes and dreams that will continue to evolve as maturity and experience enhance my future plans.

Currently, the foresight of my future revolves around huge success in the business world with a foreshadowing of the medical field. The unveiling of my passions leads me to a future of serving others and networking with many groups of people. My love for people is a primary characterization of who I am and what I am involved in.

Initially entering high school I thought my involvement would include sports as I love the “team” relationships and was a good athlete with much promise. To my dismay the doctor’s told me that contact sports were not a consideration as I was diagnosed with severe scoliosis. Now what? I was lost and devastated. I thrived on competition and bonding with teammates. Feeling like a fish out of water, I floundered during ninth and tenth grade seeking to uncover who I was while finding activities that defined me.

The spark ignited immediately following spring break of my sophomore year. Listening to my friends talk about a mission trip they attended, my heart pumped hard as they relayed the relationships they developed with people. This was me! With the next school mission trip only a couple months away, there was not time to waste sharing my desire with my parents and finding the funding for the trip. My parents were shocked when I told them of my burning desire to go to Uganda for thirteen days. Not only did the vision of being in a new country intrigue me, but the thrill of visiting Dubai played a huge part in my decision.

Visiting the largest city in the world and realizing all the commerce and advancement gave me confirmation that the business world had so much to offer and would afford opportunities for my future. Being involved with the children of Uganda and conforming to their way of life while in their country, helped me to learn that “giving is better than receiving.”

Mission trips are an opportunity for me to learn about others and expand who I am by developing new relationships. I love people and many groups of friends. Other passions of mine include hunting and golfing. These activities quench my need for competition and bonding. The process of being strategic, setting a goal, and making and executing a plan play into my goals in the business world.

As for academics, my goal is to attend Texas A&M and become part of the “Aggie” brotherhood. I thrive on the interpersonal relationships that develop with lifelong friends. My visits to A&M have solidified my goal to one day graduate with a diploma from Mays Business College. As I matured in high school and upon setting this goal at the end of my sophomore year, my focus turned to academics. At this point, I was more secure about who I was and now turning to future goals. Approaching the hardest academic year at my school I felt that if I could get all “A’s” I would prove to myself that I could be successful in college. The discipline and rigor of Liberty Christian School has given me the tools to accomplish my goals.

The real truth is that my future is in God’s hands. I will continue to have my dreams and goals, but will depend on the Lord to show me his plan for me.
