The pressure to be beautiful
As a teen female, the pressure to be “beautiful” it is high. I’ve noticed that some people will do anything to fit into society’s definition of beauty. By over -tanning, using diet pills, and get surgeries they expect to be beautiful when all it’s really doing is harming their body. I am guilty of trying to fit into society’s definition. It all led to depression and an eating disorder. One day I hope to help people realize its ok to not be stick-skinny, and that skinny doesn’t mean happy. I had the mindset that “Skinny meant happy” that all ended last year when I met the best person in my life, my best friend. She was everything I wanted to be and more, but she wasn’t happy. Her life seemed to be cursed with negative events. She had been used, abused, lied to, and betrayed. She also had depression, a cutting problem and a history of trying to commit suicide. Without her I would still be in that negative mind set and she would still be in a dark place. Skinny doesn’t mean happy! Beauty starts on the inside and works its way out. Everybody has their own unique beauty and if someone doesn’t see that it just means they aren’t worthy enough to see it. Stay positive, be confident, and just be happy.
