Sunset on a Beach

The one thing I love most in the world is a sunset on a beach. The way the gentle breeze whips my hair back with its invisible hands, and the ocean’s waves crash against the soft sand like a lullaby. The way the clouds part in the sky and the sun appears behind the sea is enough to take anyone’s breath away. The setting ball of flame reflects it’s crimson painting on the water and makes it shine like nothing you’ve ever seen. The white caps suddenly appear, smile up at you lazily and then disappear again. As you dig your toes into the sand all of your problems and worries flutter away with every slow breath of your body. The world around you begins to darken while the sky behind the horizon still glows like a multicolored fire. Then, all too soon, the sun completely disappears behind the salty waves.

One of my favorite things as a young writer to write about is a sunset. This particular experience is one of mine that I recalled from last summer, while I was at my family's annual beach trip. Everyone had gone to bed or was in their room, but I couldn't fall asleep. I wandered out to this little window seat in the bedroom hallway and sat there, watching the sunset.
