Busy mornings, calm afternoons, and silent nights. Up the hill, the cars fly in the morning and down they come in the evening.  Family and friends drive by zooming left and right. Similar houses of all colors and sizes align the street, line up one by one so it’s easy for you and your neighbor to meet.  Friendly faces everywhere you turn, along with those who have helping hands. Bright colored flowers bloom in every yard and the trees are full of leaves in the summer, then everything turns to a white sheet in the winter.  The end of the hill becomes a pool after a heavy rainfall and blocks off the street before it all clears up. The people who live there have been there since my mom was born and have known me my whole life. My house has so much history about my family along with every other house and the ones who live in them.  This neighborhood that I have grown up in has shaped me into the person I am today and I’m glad with the people it has turned my siblings and I into.

My grandparents built this white house years ago when they got married.   It’s not too big but not to small and fit all six of their kids perfectly.  Now with my family we have much more room because we have fewer people living here.  Growing up, we had a big open field in the back of our house that all the kids from nearby streets would all play in from the minute we woke til the last seconds before the sun had set.  It was a place for everyone and with all are different ages it could be anything we imagined it to be that day. We all got along so well and were stuck together like glue. Always discovering new things in  the thick, branchy, woods that we thought was treasure.

Most of my neighbors had became very old as we grew up.  Every time we played outside they were always so kind and big hearted.  They gave us snacks and let us ride our bikes in their driveways. Also, they always told us to stop by whenever and talk to them because we reminded them of their own kids and they missed seeing them running around the neighborhood just like we did.  They were always so helpful when we needed it and were always our first customers at our lemonade stands. They made the neighborhood feel like a big family.

Now that I am almost an adult and they are growing older and older I want to be there and help them out. They showed me too always be caring and help everyone.  I grew up to appreciate what I have and be grateful for everything I have. When I am older and start a family I hope my children learn the same things I did and appreciate it all like I did growing up here.  I want them to grow up in a place like I did because it shaped me into the person I have become and I am very, very grateful for that.
