Age.. what is truly the point

Why do so many people say age matters.!?.!?.!?.!?.!? Like all that matters is love cause age just tells how long you lived. I can't stand it when people are like he is to old for you when he only like 2 and 1/2 years older than me. It's just not right that people judge by age. I personally think all that matters is that y'all love each other
