"Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always."

When I first discovered Teen Ink, the website where teenagers post the inner workings of their creative mind, I was starry eyed. I never found a website so united, with thousands of opinions formed and brillianced stored. There was everything to imagine: contests, music reviews, opinions on recent issues, fictional stories to delve into, poems of beauty. I immediately created an account.

At the time, I was in a writer's block. There was no origin or cause to it, but every single time I picked up a pen, no thoughts took over and wrote themselves for me. My brain became murky and it was difficult to do anything regarding writing. I was hopeless and wondered if I would ever cure this writer's block that I desperately tried to break, to tear down the wall singlehandedly.

My cure to this block was in the form of posting articles on Teen Ink. It was what inspired me to keep going. I wanted to be one of those articles fluttering in the corners of the website. I wanted to create a piece that resonated with people in my age group, people who loved my words for what they were. I wanted to please myself and others with my writing.

Teen Ink published my first piece, a movie review, on the twelth of February this year. When I first received the email, painted in black and white glory on my iPhone, I ran downstairs, danced, told my parents the news. The thought of having my words plastered in the very own magazine was enough to make my blood dance.

I am thankful for Teen Ink and the community they provide for us teenagers who strive to have a voice in life. Sometimes, we can be drowned out by noise, but Teen Ink lets us find our voice, clear and defined. I am thankful for the teenagers who participate in Teen Ink, whether it be reading the pieces put by others silently or publishing works one after the other. Most of all, I am thankful for writing.

Thank you Teen Ink for everything you do!
