Amanda P.'s 'Words' poem holds more wisdom then any childhood phrase will ever hold. She takes the phrase 'Sticks and stones my break my bones but names will never hurt me' and gives us the real story. Each insult they are inflicted upon us 'never real go away' and each one can leave 'scars to touch.' And, like a few of us, those scars are not just metaphorical. Words are powerful and can burn you if you're not careful, though Amanda didn't talk about this it is true to me. On rare occasions those burning words can force you to move away so you can start a new life. When words can pull someone's emotions on a string and leave there body an empty shell its no wonder that Amanda finds 'it very hard to see how words don't hurt.' Amanda keeps writing about the truth you have amazing talent.
