In Maclay Patten’s article, “Aid to Success,” she informs the reader that there are two things to success. She explains how her life experiences have taught her that you need decisiveness and determination to be successful.  She tells of her fear of making decisions, because she was afraid of what people would say about her. However, she later learned that you just have to “rip the band aid off” and not care about what others think. She also elaborated on how determination is absolutely needed to be successful. She was locked in a pitch dark bathroom, and her dad was determined to free his child. I believe that those two things Maclay stated are very important life aspects. You should always make the decision you feel is right, and not the decision that everyone else thinks are right - “especially when ripping off the band aid.” You also need to be very determined to accomplish your goals to become successful. It all comes down to where you will give in to peer pressure.
