I especially relate with Allison W. in her article, “Simple as Boba”, because for as long as I can remember, I’ve been drinking boba. Being Asian-American, Allison W.’s description of ordering boba is something I resonate with. Despite being only a drink for some, it holds many meaningful memories for me and evokes a sense of nostalgia that nothing else can. However, I do not understand the author’s frantic tone about boba shops finding an alternative to plastic straws. While it may place a burden on boba shops and even consumers, it doesn’t seem as big of an issue as Wong makes it out to be. Like they mentioned, boba shops could cut straws themselves or even order straws specifically made for boba cups. Not only that, boba ships could also look into different lids instead of using a plastic seal. All in all, Allison W. did a great job of allowing Teenink readers to live the experience through her eyes even with the debatable concern for straws.
