Lacing up a pointe shoe is possibly one of the most important parts of a recital, no matter how minute it may seem: if the shoe is too lose, an injury is more likely, if it is too tight, the movement may be too restricted. The delicacy of each step of a performance is where the beauty of ballet stems from.

Wow, this is a stunning photo. The light is perfect. It makes the shoe pop, but doesn't completely block out the rest of your scene. I imagine a whole story when I see this one picture. :)
