"So I began to think maybe it was true that when you are married and had children it was like being brainwashed, and afterwards you went about as numb as a slave in a totalitarian state." - Sylvia Plat, The Bell Jar

Across the vast and treacherous sea
was her maiden voyage to sail
but a triumph became a tragedy, an old miserable tale.
“Unsinkable is the titanic – the best of the best is she!”
Oh how that human arrogance sculpted what came to be –
sunk it did, the poison of mortal pride the passengers did inhale -

forced to morph into ice-figurines, dancing in the waves and deathly pale

prayed they did yet no angels had answered their desperate plea…
In the shadows of that fateful night
hell finally froze over in that sea so deep.
The screams turned silent as dark turned to light –
thousands of souls did Death’s claws reap.
Oh the spite of that sorrowful sight,
the cost of man's ego was far too steep.
