“My heart always timidly hides itself behind my mind. I set out to bring down stars from the sky, then, for fear of ridicule, I stop and pick little flowers of eloquence.”
― Edmond Rostand, Cyrano de Bergerac

You know the color of the evergreen
Has never looked so lively in my eyes
Of all the wondrous thing that I have seen
To all the beauty of the world this ties
But the evergreen I do not envy
For though it may not look it, it grows old
Wisdom it possesses I cannot see
There is no respect if young are not told
When I age, and yes, the day will come
I want the respect that will come with it
Then I guess the wrinkles and toothless gum
Well I suppose it will be a fine fit
Respect the tree that will never see age
For it is trapped in an unbreakable cage

Lovely poem! I like your comparision between growing older and an evergreen. Very creative! 5/5
