It is time for me now to leave the nest
Unfurling my wings for the world to see
A flutter, a hop, on to the true test
Exploring a world that is new to me.

Soaring and gliding, the wind in my face
Til a shadow looms over, dark and gray
Heart beating madly, searching for the place
Where I find comfort, my nest shall I stay?

Home holds love, warmth, safety, this I do know
The unknown danger, I know also, too
I am little, small, but must face my foe
Within I hold all I need to be true.

Flying faster, finding strength I will fight
Triumphant at last, fly into the light.
