Carpe Diem(:

You were fun, innocent, young, and carefree.

Those times? They feel like history long ago.

And now you are threatening to leave me

But, I am not going to let you go.

I’ve seen the gashes and burns on your arm.

I have read the letters you wrote to me.

I will not let you continue this harm.

Without you, my friend, nothing I will be.

Everyday, I fear for you my good friend.

You make threats and call me when you’re broken.

You tell me that some things are hard to mend.

You’ve scarred me with the horrors you’ve spoken.

Everyday I hope you’ll decide to stay.

Because, I cant just send my best friend away.

My best friend, who is severely depressed and suicidal, inspired this piece. Without her, I would literally be nothing. She is there for me, when I am not there for myself. I love her. She can't leave me.

Tears came as I read your beautiful thoughts, Annie.  Words are so powerful--knowing how much she means to you may give her the courage to go on.  I pray that's the case.....thank you for sharing.
