When you see those flowery blue flip-flops,
you notice the sun is very vivid;
When your stride becomes a happy hip-hop,
you turn from that winter shade of livid.

From those crazy sports that work you all year,
to those summer leagues and tons of Frisbee;
From learning many Spanish words like “leer,”
to hanging out with your friend named Lizzie.

You anticipate that last day of school,
thinking of summer during Sir’s last test;
You anticipate diving in the pool,
from Mrs. Neimeyer’s take a long rest.

Even though you might miss all of your friends,
Summer is a brand new dawn while school ends.
