A book, is there a better friend than it?
Lying nearby, ready for you to read,
You open the cover and the smells hit:
Paper and ink mixed in one loving breed.
You turn the smooth pages to find a clue.
The mystery keeps your eyes traveling.
The plot unfolds as you tread onwards through,
The lives of these new friends unraveling.
Your friends that never leave you, always there,
You've never met them, but you know them well.
Raising emotions sometimes hard to bear,
You just close the book shut and say farewell.
Fit to be opened again it remains,
Your loving friend, always there when it rains.

I was assigned to write a sonnet for English class about something that we love. I love reading, so I just wrote about that.
