Favorite Quote:
Normality is a paved road, comfortable to walk, but no flowers bloom
- Vincent Van Gogh

Her sea is full to the brim

And the bowl in which she swims bursts at the rim.

But my goldfish knows no bounds

She continues to swim: round and round and round.

I did not think it possible to loathe someone to this degree,

My father, whose job it was to keep my friends home clean.

The gurgle and sputter of pipes that oil his heart

Fuel the destruction of nature’s art.

Her life cut-short is quickly coming to an end.

How can we possibly save my dear best friend?

It will certainly be humanity’s greatest test.

My heart is pure and wants nothing but the best,

My pet did no wrong and it is the sea that I kiss.

So, I think: Why would you kill my poor goldfish?

In this environmentalist piece I chose to explore the topic of the pollution of the oceans and the rising sea levels due to global warming while using my father as a metaphor for the older generations, who many people in Gen Z blame for the destruction of our planet.
