- What Matters
He's staring at his reflection in the bathroom as he puts that blade to his wrist,
Contemplating to himself what he did to deserve this.
Depression is devouring his mind, got him feeling so worthless,
And the demons in his head are saying he's a soul no one will miss.
See, it all started way back when,
His girlfriend said she never wanted to see him again.
As those words leaked out he felt right then,
A surge of pain he just couldn't fathom.
He stopped sleeping and he couldn't eat,
All his friends tried to contact but their messages he would delete.
She was his world, now he's incomplete,
And taking his own life is the way of retreat.
The next morning he never showed up for work,
He couldn't go in, his heart was just too hurt.
He's down in the ditch, stuck in the dirt,
As the blade whispers, "Please do insert."
He assumed he had no choice so he just gave up,
Being alone was just too much.
He knew he wasn't gonna be good enough,
That's why his former girl is feeling another man's touch.
Staring in the mirror, he thinks for a minute,
Trying to understand why she would just quit it.
'Cause she spoke about how happy she was, they were fantastic,
But another guy is holding his old plastic.
There's a tremble deep inside his voice,
But he's too far gone to reconsider his choice.
So he wets his wrists in the sink to get them moist,
'Cause sadness has taken over, it's too late to rejoice.
As he makes the cut, he quickly gets out a pen to write a note,
Of all the words that seemingly got trapped in his throat.
He had so much to say but he never spoke,
So he took a piece of paper, and this is what he wrote:
"Dear my lovely, I don't know where we went wrong,
But I hope you're doing better now that I'm gone.
You told me that you were moving on,
But I hope you're the first with the sirens to show up on my lawn.
I did this because I know you don't care,
When I needed you, you weren't there.
I tried to move on, I didn't know where,
So take a glance at my lifeless body and just stare.
I hope you will always remember me,
That I won't get lost in your memory.
And I hope this opens up your eyes, I hope it's clear to see;
I had no reason to live, and I'm just another social tragedy..."
