My Scars

I’m not ashamed when I walk down the street
I let them stare, the people I meet
You can say, “Please cover up.”
But I’ll say, “It’s never enough.”

They run deep, all these marks
The deepest one runs through my heart
You can say, “I’m not to blame.”
But I’ll say, “Who caused the pain?”

You can deny, you can hide
But I’m not giving in
I’m not going to hide them

I want everyone to know exactly who you are
We are all extras while you’re the leading star
I want everyone to see exactly what you’d do
When someone has the courage to stand up to you
Even after we say Au Revoir
I’m still going to wear my scars

I’m not fragile like some might be
I don’t breakdown from all the memories
You can say that I’m a liar
But I’ll say, “Who started the fire?”

Most people wonder if they’re true
As if they are fake just like you
You can say that it’s my entire fault
But I’ll say, “Who broke my heart?”

You can deny, you can hide
But I’m not giving in
I’m not going to hide them

I want everyone to know exactly who you are
We are all extras while you’re the leading star
I want everyone to see exactly what you’d do
When someone has the courage to stand up to you
Even after we say Au Revoir
I’m still going to wear my scars

Do you really think you’re still the man
To pick up the pieces only to break them again?
I wear my scars because I am not afraid
To show off the mess that you made

You can deny like the little boy you are
You can hide but you will not go far
I am not going to give in to you
I am not going to hide my scars from you

I want everyone to know exactly who you are
We are all extras while you’re the leading star
I want everyone to see exactly what you’d do
When someone has the courage to stand up to you
Even after we say Au Revoir
I’m still going to wear my scars

You can say and do what you want
But you’ll be speechless after seeing my scars
