The mascara brush glides into my eyelashes
Making each coat more long and luscious
The dark red stick painting back and forth onto my lips
Making them a color that I want them to be
This isn’t who I am
It’s who I want to be
We falsify ourselves
Contouring our faces to make them look thinner
Coloring in our eyebrows to make them look fuller
Putting on foundation to cover our bumpy red flaws
Wearing contacts because brown eyes aren’t in
This isn’t who I am

We want to have smooth, flawless skin
Like the models from the magazines
Who glow and shine with their pearly whites
No, that’s not me
