Where I'm From
I am from tears in my eyes
I am from angry red faces
I am from happy smiling faces.
I am from riding in cars around my back deck
From riding those cars to the ice cream truck.
I am from the sandbox my friends and I filled up with water
I am from Pine trees surrounding me
I am from a fire pit that would burn on weekends.
I’m from one dog, four cats and a guinea pig
A guinea pig stressed by the cats
A cat that would poop on the floor because it didn’t know better.
I am from a  dog that would be playful yet guarding
I am from a place where the outside smelled like flowers
  and the inside like pets.
I am from waking up to the smell of fresh bacon,
the sound of birds chirping, and Mom yelling “breakfast!”
I am from a family that played football, basketball and baseball
a family where we’d sit down at the dinner table and pray before we ate.
A family we would go to church on Sunday with family friends
I am from Friends that would like to try new things
New things like skateboarding, making music, and riding bikes
I am from gingerbread homes in kindergarten.
From ancestors that fled Germany to come to America during World War II
A Grandfather that risked his life to fight for this free land in the Navy.
Next to my bed will stand trophies, a box of memories, and souvenirs from being young.
On my stomach will be multiple scars from when my appendix was removed
Under my eyebrow, a scar from accidently hitting my face on a dumpster.
