Coach. Entrepreneur. National Chess Master.
I don’t have a 9 to 5, I have a 24/7.

My daily schedule has been a packed suitcase
Helping me pursue my passion

There are times where I feel like time goes by faster than it used to
Even though I value it so much more now

Filling up my drawers are business magazines and stacks of chess books
Filling up my soul is a desire to make use of all that I have learned

Positional and strategic play was long my achilles heel at the chess board
Just as traveling cross-country alone for competitions was my kryptonite for the longest time.

My headset may be my most valuable possession
Connecting me to the students I never thought I would have

Receiving a scholarship validated all my hard work up to this point
But maintaining it may be the toughest task

Four far years from now I hope I’m still as ambitious as the person I’ve now become
And continue to appreciate those who have been there for me all along

I am happy I am healthy I am successful
I hope it stays that way in Texas

Shyam looks forward to teaching chess to his private students via Skype daily. He watches several business reality TV shows and reads many entrepreneurial magazines in order to feed his passion for business and help him expand his own small chess business. When he is not competing in tournaments, he can be found working out in his self-built home gym, discussing fantasy sports, or playing basketball.
