Camping With Blair
I sit by the fire, and listen to the faint noises of my surroundings
After a long day,
we all cuddle up in blankets and drink hot cocoa
Then,
Roast marshmallows till they’re crisp brown and sing silly songs till are throats grow dry.
Later, we tell spooky stories of odd creatures that capture the night’s secrets,
When the fire burns out.
My spine shivers
and I wince,
But I know they’re only stories.
Nothing but the bare moon was keeps us up,
the crescent shape,
And a million illuminating stars stare back at us.
When it became late,
We become feeble as it gets late
A feathery dream catcher hangs
from the tent roof,
Over our sleeping bags
Sprawled across the tent floor
They seem to create a zig-zag design
And slowly, slowly
We fell fast asleep.
