fire made of leaves.

my eyes wander from the bare

branches of the trees,

to nature's fallen blanket

on the ground.

and i wonder if i was

your summer.

warm and bright.

and i wonder how your feelings

for me changed with the seasons.

how love faded with

the color of the leaves.

one by one

losing color.

falling and dying.

i wonder if you see

the beauty

within the fallen, dying leaves.

do you see it?

how they changed,

and then fell.

how the wind now

takes them with

just

one

breath.

or do you only see them

as another chore to be done?

another seasonal problem.

i hope you have the chance
