Someday

Someday,
I’ll be a princess.
Someday,
Heart ache will be a unfamiliar distant memory,
Happiness will be natural,
I’ll live in a palace,
Money will never be an issue,
A handsome prince will like me,
He’ll be the only one to care about me,
When I’m a Princess,
My well-being will always be a priority,
I will never be called a stupid or lazy child once again,
Someday,
When I’m the princess,
People will care about what I say,
No one will cut me off,
Or oppress my opinions,
Every miniscule thing I do will be significant,
People will care how my days go,
Nobody will ignore me or
Belittle me
Someday,
I’ll be a somebody
And matter to somebody.

The author's comments:
As a child, whenever I got into an argument with my parents or adults in my family, I would lock myself in the bathroom turn the lights off and say stuff like this to me to keep me going. I found myself doing this today. I want this poem to voice that the views and opinions of children DO matter. What they say matters. No child should feel emotionally and socially neglected.
