Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.
—Cyril Connolly

Slanted beams of pale, white moonlight streak through
My transparent ceiling
The twinkling stars are all arranged askew
I get a content feeling

Through my transparent ceiling
I see the magnificently vivid rings of Saturn
Then I get the heightened sensation of falling
This is the usual mundane pattern

I struggle to keep my heavy eyelids open
Just barely perceiving a cow soar over the moon
At that moment my senses suddenly sharpen
As I hear a melodious fiddling tune

Within the realm above my transparent ceiling
Boundless and glorious phenomena reside
I always get this ineffable feeling
Knowing that the boundaries of imagination can be defied

During late nights of insomnia and staring at my ceiling, I would imagine the moon and stars beyond it.
