He held me tight
when nothing was sufficient
he kept me safe
in the dusky night

He used to give me hugs
and kiss me ever so gently
but now i don't feel
so snug

The scent of him
is still on his jacket
the one he gave me with
the coffee trim

Our memories blaze
and now he's gone
trying to forget
our awful days

Anger in his voice
haunted me when we fought
but now i don't even
have a choice

I say my good-byes
knowing he's gone for good
trying to write off
every lie
