I urge you to allow me
to make ripples
and to allow me to be
outwardly flippant.

to embellish my flesh;
to face dawn with regret;
to wish I'd only drunk but a tipple.

to achieve a peacock's achievement - for I've sprayed nothing but colour -
I'd aspired to make so many ripples
yet now my life is another's.

The author's comments:
I know that the 'teens are experimental years for most of us. When we look back at the people we were at 13 years old, sometimes it's hard to even recognise ourselves.

Sometimes, people go overboard with experimentation -- not to better themselves, but to conform to a certain group of people or ideas. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but all too often, we forget ourselves in the muck of trivial things, and end up changing without even realising it.
