Color in the bruises of polished iridescent

churches and place

Fires within the shoes of the sinner.

God forgive me.

With ensanguining hands,

I sink within the grounds of my mistakes.

Holding onto that which causes me the most pain:

Desire.

I learned to bend and break to fit your selfish ways.

It was you who could never change.

My greatest regret is not letting go sooner;

Now I must mend what you broke.

Your angel wings are chicken feathers and hot glue.

Like Icarus,

Your temptation fed you in a false reality.

The smouldering wax turned your skin into that of a serpent,

Sending havoc on the garden of Eve.

Feathers floated like prayers and as you fell from the sky,

The most influential sinner of all.

Liar.

Pretending to be one of God's guardians,

But hiding a sinster beast

Inside.

I want to hate you,

I cannot.

I forgive you.

I am not one for religion, but your angelic eyes gave me the hope of becoming something more again.
