Once upon a time
Once upon a time
my daddy tucks me in
reading me a story
i fell asleap
two am
the house shakes
i lay in my bed
holding my book
daddy came in
he held me tight
I love you darling
he left
a crash of silence
i never got out of be
holding my book
waiting
waiting
for my daddy to come back
he never did
i sit there waiting
for my once upon a time to happen again

I loved it. You are right though about the not pulling the reader in. It's a sad poem!
